G&S Entertainment Presents: Method Man & Redman at The Fillmore Charlotte

G&S Entertainment brought the iconic duo to Charlotte for what would be an epic performance not soon to be forgotten by attendees. Method Man & Redman have remained synonymous with what hip hop has an always will be… a skill of lyricism, originality, wit and endurance.

The evening’s energy was jumpstarted with none other than Charlotte’s own Ultimate Host Comedian Cedrice “NuffCed” Brown who has become a staple in Charlotte events with his signature high energy and ability to keep any crowd entertained. NuffCed kicked off the show with Tab D’Biassi the MilliondollaDJ on the turntables spinning a wide range of the hip hop favorites further energizing the fast filling venue.

Unlike most concert experiences, G&S Entertainment and Dee Walker of DeeWorks Enterprises had everything running like a fined tuned machine. Everything and everyone involved was professional, courteous, on point and on time – which was evident in the relaxed vibe that was maintained throughout the night until the hype of the show beginning erupted the entire venue into a unanimous explosion of sheer enjoyment as the opening acts wowed the crowd. Diversity at its finest; all walks of life came to see Wu-Tang’s own Method Man and the Funk Doctor Spock himself, Redman do what they’ve done for over twenty-five years in the intimate, standing room only Fillmore Charlotte.

Opening acts included Nacynze out of Creedmoor, North Carolina. Members Stay Just, Attitude and DJ Damu performed their single “You Lose” and were more than well received by the lyrically discerning crowd. Senica Da Misfit and DJ Darkfada blazed the stage performing joints off his “Poetic Ruckus” project. Firing a barrage of perfectly placed lyrics over an uptempo, bass-laced track, they had the room chompin’ at the bit for more and was the perfect preface to what soon followed.

Just the thought of seeing Redman and Method Man is all that any true hip hop head needs to get amped for a show. But the scene had been set meticulously – G&S Entertainment and Dee Walker of DeeWorks Enterprises had made certain of that, by running a fine tooth comb over every possible detail. The host, NuffCed, Tab D’Biassi, two remarkable opening acts, a dope venue and professional staff had all been painstakingly plotted so that we could sit back and thoroughly enjoy the show of a lifetime.

The moment of truth had arrived, and the familiar sounds of the Wu-Tang Clans most recognizable voice filled the room…you could hear hearts stop and girls gasp before the crowd erupted in revelry. Method Man and Redman took the stage and people lost their minds (present company included). Opening with Blackout! 2’s “Errbody Scream” Red & Meth surpassed show goers energy level and lyrically proceeded to tear the house down. Never skipping a beat, they kept the crowd moving bringing along a few friends to take the stage while DJ Dice wowed with his superior scratchin’ skills.

Every second was fun-filled as the dynamic duo checked off boxes on everyone’s list of their favorite hip hop classics. “How High” came next as the crowd recited word for word watching as Method Man and Redman moved from one end of the stage to the next. A flawlessly executed performance given as a result of years of collaborating together, the pair danced, ad-libbed and rocked as if it could be their last show. True hip hop was given and received and it was evident how much fans needed this type of vibe. The love for what they do is palpable as they laughed, joked and gave us one hit after another – the people could not get enough….so they gave us MORE!

The experience was like watching yin and yang in real life and 3D as each took turns taking centerstage, Red performed hits like “Time 4 Sum Aksion” and Meth made sure to include Wu classics, such as his solo release on Wu-Tang’s debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) “Method Man”. A sight to behold, they seemed to enjoy watching each other perform as much as they enjoyed performing themselves.

The moment provided a reminder that we were witnessing veterans in the hip hop game, who have a deep affinity for their craft and respect for others in the industry as well. Each lyrical forces of nature in their own regard, but so simpatico when combined it’s as if they just belong that way. It was a night to remember where people of all races came together and had the best time collectively. Hands raised and waved in accord for hip hop legends Method Man and Redman. Faces glowing from sweat and wonderment- wet from water being thrown into the crowd. No one blinked an eye all night as they were too afraid to miss a single moment of awesomeness, and no one wanted to leave. As the show drew to a close, they gave a shout out to the late rapper XXXTentacion who recently passed and made everyone throw up a peace sign. After dropping a few jewels for the people, they bid a reluctant adieu as did we. We were luck to experience a night none of us will soon forget.
